Graduation program for the Swan's Island Grammar Schools held at the Minturn Church (Advent Church) on Thursday, June 25, 1903. The event included music, prayer, a salutory speech on the 'Value of Purpose in Life' by Ethel Mae Johnson, an essay on 'Elements Essential to Success in Life' read by Harry Jerome Newman, a recitation of 'Old Home Week' by Rita Mabel Staples, an essay on 'Education' by Alice Marion Sprague, an essay on 'Our Nation's Flag' read by Vera Evelyn Trask, the class prophecy read by Emerson Sadler, the valedictory speech 'From Labor Springs Honor' by Laureta Mildred Milan, the presentation of diplomas by Dr. H.W. Small the school superintendent, an oration on character by Evelyn Bridges, and everyone sang 'America' at the close of the program. The class motto: 'From labor springs hope.' |
