"Capt Willie" VanHorn in his boat with the canvas top up. The captain would bring people from Bass Harbor, drop them at Smith's wharf in Atlantic, Swan's Island. They would have to walk up what some called "cardiac hill" to get to the road. The wharf is located on Steamboat Rd and was later owned by Ross and then Bradley Joyce. |
